For each flight, the flight crew members shall include the Pilot-in-Command and may include, as appropriate: • one or more Co-Pilots • when a separate flight engineer’s station is incorporated in the design of an aircraft, one flight engineer especially assigned to that station, unless the duties associated with that station can be satisfactorily performed by another flight crew member, holding a flight engineer licence, without interference with regular duties • one member who holds a flight navigator licence in all operations where, as determined by the State of the Operator, navigation necessary for the safe conduct of the flight cannot be adequately accomplished by the pilots from the pilot station • one member who holds a valid licence, issued or rendered valid by the State of Registry, authorising operation of the type of radio transmitting equipment to be used. Flight Crew Bulletin A temporary or permanent document or directive, which may not be part of the Operations Manual, that contains operational information, guidance and/or instructions for flight crew members. Equivalent Terms: Flight Operations Bulletin Flight Crew Member Any member of a Flight Crew. Flight Data Recorder (FDR) A flight recorder used to record specific aircraft performance parameters. Flight Deck The area of an aircraft designed to enable the pilot(s) to operate the aircraft, which contains the required instrumentation, controls, systems and equipment, and is separated from other areas of the aircraft. Equivalent Terms: Flight Crew Compartment, Cockpit Flight Dispatch See Operational Control. Flight Dispatcher See Flight Operations Officer (FOO). Flight Duty Period The total time from the moment a flight crew member commences duty, immediately subsequent to a rest period and prior to making a flight or a series of flights, to the moment the flight crew member is relieved of all duties having completed such flight or series of flights. |
