8  Other T & Check, but don’t expect too much out of the temperature gauges for a while, especially Ps if it’s cold.
9 Starter  Release at 58% N1. Idle at 62% for 1 min if it has been shut down for over 15 mins, to give the temperatures time to stabilise and the battery a chance to recover before switching the generator on (if the generator has to pump out too much, it will draw too much from the engine, since it is on the compressor drive train. This is why the generator has to be switched off for some performance graphs and the generator is sometimes turned off by pilots who need a little TOT advantage on a hot day).
10 Ext power  Remove, switch on battery if not already on.
11 Hydraulics  While you are waiting for the minute mentioned above, undo the control frictions, switch off the hydraulics and check the operation of the controls, and the sloppy linkage. You are looking to see if the hydraulics are motoring, that is, moving by themselves.

1 Throttle Open to 70% N1 2 Generator Switch on, wait until the Loadmeter reads less than .7. the reason
No Item  Action

3 Electrics  Switch everything on, usually the radios, navaids and gyros. No flags should be showing.
4 Ts & Ps  Should be within limits.

5 Throttle  Open, but don’t go above 40% Torque, which will help stop you spinning if the ground is slippery.
6 Beep range  Check the full range, leave at maximum. Although the range should be 95-100%, many engineers set it at 96-101%, particularly if the FCU is a bit dodgy.
7 Anti-ice  Make sure the TOT rises. Leave on if you are going to be flying in visible moisture below 4.4 degs C.
8 Hydraulics  Switch off, check cyclic movement in X-pattern, leave on.
9 Throttle  Retard (not too quickly), to stabilise at 62% N1 inside 3 secs.
10 Instruments  Set—altimeters, DGI. A/H, etc
