Document means a document in any form, and includes— (1) any writing on any material (2) any information recorded or stored by means of any tape recorder, computer, or other device and any material subsequently derived from information so recorded or stored (3) any book, map, chart, plan, graph, or drawing (4) any photograph, film, negative, tape, or other device in which one or more visual images are embodied so as to be capable (with or without the aid of some other equipment) of being reproduced Dry, in relation to a runway, means a runway that is neither wet nor contaminated, and includes a paved runway that has been specially prepared with grooves or a porous pavement to retain effectively dry raking action even when moisture is present Dual flight time means flight time during which a person is receiving flight instruction from an appropriately licensed and rated pilot on board a dual control aircraft Dual instruction time means flight time during which a person is receiving flight instruction from a properly authorized pilot on board the aircraft. Elevation means the vertical distance of a point or a level, on or affixed to the surface of the earth, measured from mean sea level Emergency locator transmitter (ELT). A generic term describing equipment which broadcast distinctive signals on designated frequencies and, depending on application, may be automatically activated by impact or be manually activated. An ELT may be any of the following Automatic fixed ELT (ELT(AF)). An automatically activated ELT which is permanently attached to an aircraft. Automatic portable ELT (ELT(AP)). An automatically activated ELT which is rigidly attached to an aircraft but readily removable from the aircraft. Automatic deployable ELT (ELT(AD)). An ELT which is rigidly attached to an aircraft and which is automatically deployed and activated by impact, and, in some cases, also by hydrostatic sensors. Manual deployment is also provided. |
