This document provides guidelines for the preparation, verification and identification of user-selectable navigation data bases that are used in airborne navigation systems. It includes the processes involved in the processing, control and loading of user-selectable navigation data bases, and provides guidance to assure that the integrity of the source data is not degraded and that data bases are compatible with the type of equipment in which they are used. RTCA Document 201, User Recommendations for Aeronautical Information Services, Issued 11/88. This document recommends changes needed to provide improved operational effectiveness of airborne navigation systems in which stored data bases are used. It provides several aeronautical information requirements and design standards needed to support computer-based systems, including the presentation of problem areas and recommended standardised practices. It supports the aviation community's recommended standards for the preparation and transmission of data for assembly of airborne navigation system, flight planning and flight simulator data bases and provides a mean to update data bases in ways that assure they remain current and valid. RTCA Document 202, Report Of Special Committee 159 on Minimum Aviation System Performance Standards (MASPS) for Global Positioning System (OPS), Issued 11/88. Reports on the GPS and related parameters, for operation and use of a GPS-based navigational system by civil airspace users. Considers the use of GPS both as a supplemental and as a sole means system for en-route, terminal area and non-precision approach operations. Integrity monitoring requirements are presented, with a discussion of suitable methods for determining GPS integrity and broadcasting this information to civil aeronautical users.
