Contract/Complete Work Breakdown Structure Complete Work Breakdown Structure (CWBS) for a contract. It includes the EUROCONTROL approved work package WBS for reporting purposes and its discretionary extension to the lower levels by the contractor. It includes all the elements for the products (hardware, software, data, or services) which are the responsibility of the contractor. (Source: MIL-STD-881B). Control Antenna An SSR antenna has a polar diagram which is designed to cover the side lobes of the main interrogating antenna. It is used to radiate a control pulse which, if it exceeds in amplitude the associated interrogation signal at the input to the transponder, will cause the transponder to inhibit responses to the interrogation pulses. Modem SSR antenna have the control elements built into the main array. The control antenna is also known as the SLS (Side Lobe Suppression) antenna. Control Area A controlled airspace extending upwards from a specified limit above the earth. Control Pattern This is the polar diagram of the Control Antenna discussed above. Modern integrated SSR antennae have a modified cardioids beam shape. Control Pulse A pulse (P2 for Modes A and C, P5 for Mode S), transmitted in accordance with ICAO Annex 10 recommendations, by the ground equipment (SSR Interrogator) in order to ensure side lobe suppression at transponder level. Control Status Record sent by a radar station at every Azimuth Sector Crossing. It contains information on the status of the radar station and on the azimuthal sector. Control Zone Is a controlled airspace extending upwards from the surface of the earth to a specified upper limit Controlled Aerodrome An aerodrome at which an air traffic control service is provided to aerodrome traffic. (Ref. ICAO Doc 9569 Definitions). Controlled Airspace Is an airspace of defined dimensions within which air traffic control services are provided to IFR flights and to VFR flights in accordance with the airspace classification.
Note : Controlled Airspace is a generic term which covers ATS airspace classes A, B, C, D, & E. Controlled Airspace includes Control Area, Terminal Control Area, Airway and Control Zone. Controlled Flight Is any flight which is subject to an ATC clearance
Controlled Flight into Terrain accident An event in which a mechanically normally functioning aircraft is inadvertently flown into the ground, water or an obstacle. (Eurocontrol SISG).
Controlled Flight into Terrain incident An event in which aircrew are forced to take avoiding action in order to prevent a mechanically normally functioning aircraft flying into the ground, water or an obstacle. (Eurocontrol SISG). Controller Capacity The number of a/c that can be handled by a controller within a certain period of time for a given sector size. (i.e. the maximum workload of controllers). (EATCHIP, 1996).
