operational criterion measure) is related empirically with the developed predictor.
Critical decision method
A semi-interview technique that elicits information from expert decision-makers about critical job incidents they have previously experienced. The expert is asked to recall critical incidents he has faced, and the analyst asks probe questions to elicit information about how he made decisions to handle the incident. It is a good method for determining the decision-making skills unique to experts.
Critical Incident
Any situation faced by a person who causes him or her to experience unusual strong emotional
reactions.
Critical Incident Stress Debriefing
One or more group sessions in which the different witnesses of the same critical incident gather and exchange their experiences. CISD is a structured process following 7 steps and guided by a CISM team - Debriefer peers and/or a mental health professional.
Critical Incident Stress Defusing
Defusing is a similar but shorter and less formal process than debriefing. CISD is a process following 3 steps and guided by a CISM team - debriefer peers and/or a mental health professional.
Critical Incident Stress Management
A technique against stress. CISM is a set of structured assistance techniques, extended to the ATS context, which is aimed at helping people who have experienced a critical incident to moderate the impact of the stress resulting from it, and speed up the return to the pre-incident state.
Critical Incident Stress Management Techniques
Techniques to help people who have experienced a critical incident. These techniques intend to
moderate the impact of critical incident stress, and speed up the return to the pre-incident state.
Critical Incidents Technique
1- Is a description of an event that was central (or critical) to success or failure on a particular task (Landy, 1989).
2- CIT is a qualitative approach to obtain descriptions of specific, observable behaviour. The CIT also gives descriptions of the context (situation) in which the behaviour occurred and the consequence (outcome) of the behaviour described
Cross Border Areas (CBA) TSAs that are established over international boundaries for specific operational requirements.
Cross Track Distance The perpendicular distance that the airline is to the left or right of the desired track.
Cross Track Error The perpendicular deviation that the aircraft is to the left or right of the desired track resulting from the total error contributions. The error is displayed on an indicator such that the deflection is to the left when the aircraft is to the right of the desired track (i.e. fly-to-needle convention).
Cross Validation The application of a scoring system or set of weights empirically derived in one sample to a different sample from the same population to investigate the stability of relationships based on the original weights (SIOP, 1987).
